Dirty water and mud. There is no clean filtered water, no canalization and  lack of it during the dry season. People walk several km and pay for water which is not treated or filtered and often causes illness and in some causes death. This is the situation that is happening in a lot of rural areas in Cambodia. This is the case of Katout, a small comunity in the north, several hundreds km from Siem Reap... Laugh of children jumping and swimming, the noise of water falling, filling up pots, women washing clothes and others simply resting or smoking, discussing something. That is the place  we need to build, it is not just an infrastructure, it is a comunnity center connected with the water.

The project is the construction of a pond with capacity of 300 families for water use during 3 months. The aim is to improve the quality of the water for human use, and insead of creating a place, to build a new social public space  where the community will meet, socialize and manage the instalation of water. We persuide the idea of babilonyan dream, an oasis of lush green valley in a dusty summer landscape.  A place of leisure but also daily labours like whasing clothes or picking clean water for cooking under the shadow of palm trees. It is a simple square surrounding by walls, where animals can not use water. The water storage tank becomes the perimeter of the space, the wall protects indoor activity from heat and dust.  A wide line or a wall made of bricks creates rather big volume for keeping the water as well as draws a space inside that will become a new social spot in the town. From this wall, depending on its use, the water flows with different speed and  non mechanical systems of pump provide with clean filtered water for drinking and cooking, water for washing clothes and organic ecco self maintained pool.
