Sustainable
Sun - water - earth
We propose a prototype following the structure of a sunflower and its repetition create a cluster. A system that use the natural sources with the aim of reducing the consumption of electricity. Sun a solar panels field will be install in each roof of “sunflower prototype”. A roof able to move and turn the direction according with the angle of the sunlight depends on the season. Water rain water and snow will be captured on the roof and drive through the empty trunk to different tanks for use. Earth due the weather conditions of Dalian, the heating needs are highly required to create comfort in the living, working areas even in the public space. Geothermal power and a system of pipes will provide with heat during the winter season.
Cluster
Living - working - leisure
Avoiding the functional urban tool of uses overdone in most of the Chinese cities, we propose an amalgam of uses where all is mixed. Far from the standard scheme of commercial basement/green area and working and living place, we seek to create an ecosystem, taking back the human scale and focus in the social interaction. “The new old”, microscale and repetition let us provide with a playground imitating the old urban local development from the past with a supertech structure. Instead of growing vertical, we propose a horizontal diagram. A natural tech tissue where the public space surround everything and there is always opportunity for physical or visual interaction between the community. Hanged gardens, warm squares, green and flourish alleys, sunken squares became the new elements of this urban planning. A plan that focuses on life more than sophisticated pieces of architecture.
Growth
Micro - macro like a sunflower field
Using microscale and repetitions getting the macro scale. Due the plot of the competition is limited to a closed plot, we propose that the system can grow to occupied and densify a macro plot accessible from all sites and where workers from different factories can connect and share the same social frame, enriching relations and avoiding segregation.
