Industrial heritage

And community values how to provide a new image from the past? We wanted to create a symbol of the new community center that represent the social diversity from that place, the essence. From the visual point of view, we wanted a dynamic sense of social activity is aimed. How to do that in an industrial context with no architectural aesthetic value? Looking to the past and the old still surroundings we find out the key...

One material / repetition and diversity

Like the city center housing buildings or any public institution from that time, all of them follow the same aesthetics ... Repetition of housing blocks covered by a layer of white tiles with some decoration elements. We wanted to take it to the limit to create a new identity based on the past. On that direction we propose a craft skin tile facade for the street. A new texture that changes direction, thickness and space in between providing an artistic mural that shows diversity but providing a clear identity. Now the facade is read a continuous texture in constant flow. Depends on the position of the viewer the sense of the building change. In short .... “Same but different”

Social frame / multiplicity

It’s a community building where all ages meet. Cultural, lei[1]sure, business consulting and sports coexist together. How to provide a space that can host all this kind of inter[1]actions and activities? ... Due the regulation of the competition that forbids any kind of extension we decided to start playing with the indoor and outdoor creating continuity and multiple way of new interactions.

The courtyard / introverted

From the beginning we wanted to preserve the courtyard as a center of reunion but in the same time making the building more accessible from different parts of the plot giving a different perception of the whole and enriching the flow of the users. We focused the main attention on the ground floor playing with the sequences of spaces and its connections, the pavement and openings on the facade become a told of design providing a range of spaces that interact with each other, physically or visually.in short “ a flexible space able to adapt and change according with the new demands and needs of the neighborhood “

Acupuncture

With a few modifications, pressing or pulling the space, adding and erasing small elements like the bridge, the sloppy garden, the umbraculum or the veranda ... We offer a new hub of social activities.
