COMMUNITY CENTER

In the middle of nowhere, outside of the town, attached to a road and with incredible view to a mountain’s valley and its lush surroundings. a small tiny roof in a corner covers 2 stands where the locals can sell their agricultural products.

We wanted to change this condition and with very few construction elements gain scale and magnitude, enhance the surroundings and offer a space for the elderly not only during the market time but use for all kind of activities and gatherings.

We removed the existing structure and create 2 thick walls in both sides of the plot, that can be used as a storage in the same time that we frame the nature, the best view to the valley and avoiding seeing the cars parked in both sides as a part of the background.

Due the budget limitations and the small program we apply the idea of working with the void, with the air. the functions are treated like an object in the table, looking for the perfect situation and creating different relations with the other objects and space around. that is how we gain scale and presence with very few elements create a new landscape where people interact in different ways.  to enhance the nature and how the fruits are being sold is so important for the community we will introduce those trees as a part of the design. even the well will do too.

Now that we have all the ingredients we add the last touch that give identity and unity to the complex. a light wooden stick structure covers the whole area. everything under the same roof, offering shelter, lights and shadows and a sense of protection.
