QINGCHENSHAN A forest between two rivers. A beautiful natural piece of land 2h drive from the city of Chengdu. A paradise for those who want to scape from stressful life and polluted envirorment. The client is looking for a urban/landscape proposal to locate 20 units inside the island and a reception facility in the entrance as a bridge to the island.

THE ISLAND Hundreds of trees everywhere. We’re willing to create a feeling that we call “lost in the woods” trying to avoid the sense of being in the hotel, just you and the nature. 3 units following  the requirements of the client (couple / family / group of friends) are located as far as possible from each other. In order not to cut trees, the units are narrow and long enclosing a piece of landscape or vertical tree house Different facilities and activities are spread all around, observation tower, fire places, hot sprigs, tea houses ...  and a net of paths is above the ground to keep the nature ground intact.

VISITOR CENTER A reception, restaurant, library, tea house and office managment are the functions requiered. Following the idea of tradicional chinese pavillions connected around a garden we create a massive skin that covers all pavilions. The corridors are now under the same roof due to the climate extreme conditions in winter and summer. At the same time to avoid a straight line the new corridor changes the shape getting wider and narrower, open and close, providing with a richer spacial experience.
