The new theater/dancing school is located Inside the block in Lavapies district. This block is a result of accumulation of different constructions through time. Houses, apartment blocks, storages, ruins and small factories create a very interesting amalgam core, a perimeter made up of volumes with different highs, styles and materials surrounding a void occupied by factories. There is no specific requirements concerning the plot. After several discussions and analyses we decided to keep this mixture and preserve its original shape. We are going to work in the void, remaking and transforming factories, storages and patios without changing the image. It is an acupuncture intervention containing 3 phases. 1. Remove the parts of the factories which are in poor conditions of maintenance or have no architectural interest value. 2. Under the same roof. Several industrial constructions are not connected between each other and placed in the void. We intend to implant free space and flexibility which is necessary for theater and dancing school. The intervention is focused on the removal of the common walls between factories, creating the only big space under the roof originally consisted of several roofs. 3. New constructions. Using light structure elements the proposal alters the management of the space serving the neutral space inside. New facade appears with the goal to unify the complexity of shapes and constructions and in the meantime retain all kinds of service: wc, storage, kitchen, reception etc.
